Citiloc is proud to help provide safe, affordable independent housing for seniors on a large site in West Vancouver, currently being redeveloped.  Two new buildings are being constructed on the site, and Citiloc has been contracted to supply and install the access and security in both.

An advanced access system, auto-operators, and infrared reader technology will allow residents to access doors from a distance of up to 15 feet, much greater than normal proximity readers, which require the user to stand much closer to the reader.  This system takes the various possible mobility issues of seniors into account – doors remain open longer so a resident does not get trapped outside the door after opening it.  The long distance, hands-free operation also means that residents with walkers, wheelchairs, or carts do not have to maneuver them dangerously close to opening doors.

Citiloc is also easily able to provide an exact match to the previously installed systems in already-established buildings.  This makes it possible for all building systems to be networked together and integrated into a single control workstation for the onsite manager’s greater convenience and efficiency.  The manager no longer needs to travel between each building to update and maintain the security systems in each one.

This client has an established confidence in Citiloc due to Citiloc’s consistently high quality and fast, reliable service support on previous work over the last two years.  As Citiloc’s technicians have already worked with and understand the intricacies of the existing system and have all previous work records kept on hand, the company was able to consult with the end user directly, as well as the architect and contractors, to provide a minimum-inconvenience solution that took both resident needs and the project’s budget into account.

The construction of more facilities of this nature also allows more of Vancouver’s seniors to live independently, while still remaining in and contributing to their home communities.
